Emma Dodds is a Western Australian textile artist with a background in fashion and textile design. Influenced by interior design, print and architecture, her bold works use a mix of colour, form and pattern. After losing her mother in 2020, Emma re-ignited her passion for creative expression and was introduced to hand tufting. To make her artworks, Emma tufts each individual piece of yarn into a woven cotton base, a process that she likens to painting in wool. Though the process is labour-intensive, she develops her work quite spontaneously with her compositions developed largely through intuition.
