Anne Ryan specialised in clay sculpture at the Claremont School of Art in the 1980s and has spent many years as an art teacher and consultant at ECU. The organic shapes in this year’s exhibition are inspired by nature and particularly beach sand at the water’s edge. The simplified forms are made from white Raku clay, with shape and pattern being further defined using white underglaze paint before being fired at a very high temperature.
