Western Australian artist Claire Lawson is a founding member of Swan River Print Studio at Goolugatup Heathcote. Drawn to fine art printmaking by the challenge of manipulating the multiple variables of the process, Claire experiments with new ways of using traditional techniques. All her work is hand pulled on either an antique Columbian press built in 1857 or a vintage 1950s etching press. Claire frequently incorporates natural ochres alongside pigment and ink to reflect the extraordinary colour and vibrancy of the vast Australian landscape which inspires much of her work.
