Claire Lawson

Western Australian artist Claire Lawson is a founding member of Swan River Print Studio at Goolugatup Heathcote. Drawn to fine art printmaking by the challenge of manipulating the multiple variables of the process, Claire experiments with new ways of using traditional techniques. Her current series of semi abstract monotypes reflect the extraordinary colour and vibrancy of the Australian landscape. Layer upon layer of transparent ink, pigment and ochre are painstakingly applied and each unique image is hand pulled on an antique Columbian press built in 1857.
