Perth based artist James Giddy is known for his public mural artworks of native flora and fauna. His studio works scrutinise his subjects, captivating the audience through ambiguous grounds, whilst elements of design and suggestions of humour keep them engaged. Recent work explores the basic methods of branding and advertising, conversing on themes of mass consumerism. The works juxtapose the traditional and timeless medium of oil painting against the transient and temporary techniques of advertising, unpicking the artist’s own experiences with commercialisation and the expectations of the modern world.
