Kathryn Haug was born in Perth and currently lives in the Perth Hills. Working predominantly with oil and acrylic paint, Kathryn often paints from life to create images of everyday objects, local landscapes and occasionally portraits. A central part of Kathryn’s practice is the alla prima method, whereby the whole painting is completed in one session. Kathryn enjoys the balance between controlling the paint and allowing it to be just paint; making careful, descriptive marks in some places, while letting the paint drip, smear or run in others. As a result, her paintings often have both representational and abstract elements.
