Shelley Cowper

Drawing on personal experience to interweave themes of site, place and emotional situations, Shelley’s work explores the ephemeral world of water and sky. A sailing boat was home while she and her husband circumnavigated Australian waters, and her current body of work utilises the porthole to symbolise the boat as both a vessel of containment, and a ‘portal’ to other worlds and places. Shelley is a mid-career artist who has won a number of awards and a lecturer in Visual Art at North Metro TAFE.
