Born in Bristol, Doug Harvey had a career in architecture in the UK, Africa and Australia before joining Contemporary Metal in Perth in 2017 to learn and develop skills in jewellery making and metalsmithing. In his contemporary jewellery designs, Doug combines different metals and mixed media, whilst his metalsmithing practice involves exploring shapes and finishes for raising vessels in hammered copper, brass and silver. Inspired by contemporary and ancient ceramic and metal vessels, Doug’s forms, textures and details have influences from everyday items and ornamentation from his travels in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.
