About Josh Wells

Josh Wells is a commercial and fine art photographer with an interest in community, third places, and providence. He started photographing Hyde Park when he heard news reports that 20% of its 900 trees would be removed due to the invasive shot-hole borer. An accidental exposure with a digital camera, where misfocus rendered the scene in stunning impressionist-style texture, gave him a way to bring the tonality and brushstrokes of impressionist art to his photographs. The works in the series are titled in descending order from 900 to reflect the original number of trees in Hyde Park before the cull.
