Inspired by the life cycle of nature, Juliet Tang’s work focusses on crystalline glazes on hand-built metamorphic clay forms. Originally trained as an architect, she later studied Refined Ceramics at TAFE. Juliet blends her understanding of these two disciplines to create unique sculptures that engage in the organic attributes of clay and the scientific elements of glazing. The imprinted, self-seeding crystalline “floral” blooms that feature on her clay works are created by using specific kiln-firing profiles and glaze chemistry. They bear homage to the perpetual rebirth of Mother Nature.
