Born and raised in Perth, Leon Holmes started out as a printmaker, graphic designer, art director, illustrator and photographer before becoming a full-time artist in 2003. Leon is now internationally renowned and awarded as an artist, lecturer and ambassador of plein air oil painting. The Australian outdoors and extensive travels overseas provide Leon with constant inspiration for his landscapes, seascapes, street scenes, still life and portraiture. When painting on location, Leon focuses on capturing true light and colour and uses these studies as reference for larger studio works in order to retain the same dynamic and vibrancy.
