Penny Jewell is a textile artist obsessed with plants and their natural dyes. She has spent years developing ways of transferring the dyes in botanicals to paper, fabrics and leather. Her style of contact printing allows hidden colours and forms to emerge. Sometimes the surprise is the colour revealed, sometimes it is the intricacies of the veins in the leaves. Penny has exhibited in a number of solo and group exhibitions, and taught her techniques in many parts of Australia and Indonesia. She has been an Artist in Residence at Aspects Gallery in Kings Park Botanical Gardens.
