Vicki Ames was born in the UK, trained in London and has lived for the past thirty years in WA, working as a lecturer and artist. Vicki creates textile wall-hangings and wall-mounted pieces using individually hand-dyed fabrics, including embroidery, appliqué and resist-dyeing stitch methods. Her sources of inspiration are the colourful bold urban architecture and environment, particularly garden design and wall features. She continues to be fascinated by what can be seen on foot when meandering through the streets from South Fremantle to Fremantle.
