Yoshiko Gunning

About

Yoshiko Gunning was born in Kagawa, Japan and has lived in Australia since the 1990s. Yoshiko was initially known for her pastel works of interiors and self-portraits, one of which is held in the Cruther’s Collection UWA. Her current body of work combines her interest in light and structure with elements of her new discipline of floristry to create luminous installations and works on paper. The influences are many and varied, ranging from traditional Japanese flower arrangement to artists working with light (particularly James Turrell) and contemporary architecture such as the work of Tadao Ando.
